Hujjat al-Islam Shahriari

Hujjat al-Islam Shahriari stated, “Our advice to all Shia and Sunni scholars is that they should not behave in ways that cause division in the Muslim community and that they should try to unite the Islamic society as much as possible.”

Hawzah News Agency- Hujjat al-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought delivered a speech at the first national conference of the Sadat Foundation, which was held on Sunday, July 24 in Tehran.

During his remarks Hujjat al-Islam Shahriari referred to the Quranic verse of Mubahala and said, “This story shows that Islam is a religion of tolerance and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never forced anyone to convert to Islam and we all know that the Prophet (PBUH) developed Islam with his own morals and nice behavior towards other.”

The Shia scholar went on to say, “When we talk about Mubahala, part of it includes the righteousness of the Islamic religion, and part of it refers the righteousness of Ahlul Bayt (PBUT). The question that is raised here is what is the relationship of the present conference with the approximation of Islamic religions? The issue of unity is a very important one; by carefully looking at the verses of the Holy Quran, we come to the conclusion that the issue of Islamic unity and not creating divisions is a sign of monotheism and is even considered as an act of God.”

Referring to the story of Prophet Moses (PBUH) and Aaron in the Holy Quran, Hujjat al -Islam Shahriari highlighted Ghadir Khumm and said, “From the perspective of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Ali (PBUH) served as his companion and brother, same as Aaron served Prophet Moses (PBUH).

Secretary General of The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought further added, “After the Ghadir incident, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Imam Ali (PBUH) to be patient if the people do not join him. Therefore, the patience that Imam Ali (PBUH) exercised after the caliphate of the three caliphs was very great.”

He further stated, “Our advice to all Shia and Sunni scholars is that they should not behave in ways that cause division in the Muslim community and that they should try to unite the Islamic society as much as possible.”

Hujjat al- Islam Shahriari concluded his remarks by saying that the enemy has always been pushed back by the unity and closeness of Muslims. Therefore, it is not unusual that the adversaries plot to infiltrate Muslims in this way.
