Hawzah News Agency - Sabah Barzanji, a professor at the University of Sulaymaniyah had an interview with Hawzah News this evening at the first regional conference of Islamic unity that was held in Sanandaj during which the Sunni scholar said ,” The meeting that has brought us all together today is focused on the issue of Islamic unity and its significance.”

Pointing to the importance and need of Muslims to strengthen unity against enemies, the Professor of Sulaymaniyah University added, “Unity should not just be a mere slogan, rather it must enter the implementation phase in the Islamic world.”

Asserting that blind prejudice is one of the main obstacles to the unity of the Islamic world, he reminded, “Religious unity is an obligation for which we are all responsible and we must implement it.”

This Iraqi university professor further explained that division in the Islamic world is like a dangerous virus, and we must prevent the spread of this virus so that further damage to the Islamic world would be avoided.

Pointing out that before discussing unity, we must recognize our differences, he stated, “Moving away from the main pillars of Islam is one of the obstacles to reaching unity and brotherhood among Muslims, so we must have a correct and practical definition of unity, a unity that Muslims can touch it.”

In the end, he concluded by saying that In order to achieve real unity in the Islamic world, we need to use all capacities, and in this direction, Islamic identity must be seriously considered.
