A number of children suffering from cancer met with Iraq’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

Hawzah News Agency –They were accompanied by physicians and medical staff of the Warith International Foundation for Oncology, which is affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussain (AS) holy shrine, Shafaqna reported.

During the meeting, Ayatollah Sistani was briefed by the foundation’s director Haidar Hamza al-Abidi about the activities and services it provides to cancer patients.

The senior cleric hailed the foundation for providing medical service to all Iraqis regardless of their faith and tribal affiliation and appreciated the efforts of its medical staff and nurses.

Also at the meeting, Jannat Imad Abdul Wahhab, a girl suffering from Leukemia thanked the religious leader for helping patients and appreciated the Astan for the free medical treatment it provides to those referring to the centers of the foundation.
