Hawzah News Agency – Is it necessary to choose a marji‘ of taqlīd to follow?
A mukallaf who is not a mujtahid should either follow a qualified mujtahid or to act according to caution, i.e. to make sure that he has done his shar‘ī duty, for instance, not to do the acts which are ḥarām according to some mujtahid and ḥalāl according to others and to perform the acts which are obligatory as viewed by some mujtahids and not obligatory by others.
