Hezbollah, Amal Movement: Marking Ashura this year won’t include congregations due to coronavirus crisis

“The advent of Muharram Month this year conveys all Imam Hussein’s religious and humanitarian messages which exemplify His tragic sacrifices and perpetuate Ashura ceremony as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has recommended.

Hawzah News Agency - Hezbollah and Amal Movement commands issued Monday a joint statement which point out that marking the Ashura anniversary this year must take all the preventive measures that can protect the believers from the coronavirus.

“The advent of Muharram Month this year conveys all Imam Hussein’s religious and humanitarian messages which exemplify His tragic sacrifices and perpetuate Ashura ceremony as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has recommended.

The statement added that the exacerbation of the health conditions in Lebanon due to the pandemic forced the following regulations:

1. Believers must concentrate on home revivals through participating on the ceremonies broadcast round the clock by the TV channels.

2. Religious scholars and Ashura preachers can benefit from the online services and social media applications to convey the message of Karbala.

3. Manifestations of sadness must be spread across neighborhoods in order to activate the participation and revival.

4. Occasion revival must not include public ceremonies and processions which may endanger the safety of the participants.

The statement finally hoped that Ashura days and nights this year carry more love and commitment to the eternal path of Imam Hussein, asking Holy God to save the humanity from the pandemic with the bless of the Imam and His companions.
