Officials, religious figures commemorate late scholar Morteza Ameli at Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine

Hawzah News Agency (Mashhad - Iran) - A special ceremony has been held at Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine with religious figures, military and state officials in attendance to commemorate late religious scholar Seyyed Ja’far Morteza Ameli.

Present in the ceremony were Seyyed Ahmad Alamolhoda Leader’s representative in Khorasan Razavi Province, Astan Quds Razavi’s chief custodian Hoj. Ahmad Marvi, representatives of the Supreme Council for Management of Khorasan Province’s Seminary Schools, the governor general of Khorasan Razavi Province, as well as Ayatollah Morteza Ameli’s family, and holy shrine servants.

The ceremony was kicked off by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Hosseini Khorasani’s speech.

“Imam Sadiq (AS) says ‘Our Shia scholars are like border guards who take care of people’s faith and stand against the evil and its followers; they stop the evil from attacking poor Shia Muslims and imposing domination on them,” stated the speaker. 

Ayatollah Hosseini went on to say: “Late Ayatollah Seyyed Ja’far Morteza Ameli is the reminiscent of Shahid Awwal (The First Martyr) and Sheikh Bahaei. He has authored many books, the best of which are “Authentic hadiths on conduct and character of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)” and “Authentic hadiths on conduct and character of Imam Ali (AS)”.

The representative of Khorasan Razavi’s people in the Assembly of Experts went on to say: “Scholar Ameli also conducted research and study on historical and ideological issues of the Shia Muslims. He accompanied and supported Imam Khomeini (RA) since the first days of the Islamic Revolution”.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ja’far Morteza Ameli, the renowned Shia historian and researcher departed on the night of the demise anniversary of the Prophet (pbuh) at the age of 75 after years of cancer fight.
