AQR releases “pilgrimage to Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine

The book also contains information on services and welfare activities by AQR to pilgrims and neighbors.

Hawzah News Agency - (Mashhad - Iran) - Astan Quds Razavi’s department in charge of publications has released “Pilgrimage to Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine” for facilitating pilgrimage and providing information on facilities and capacities of the holy shrine.

The book also contains information on services and welfare activities by AQR to pilgrims and neighbors.

The chapter titles are: “A Brief Biography of Imam Reza (AS)”, "Formation of the Holy Shrine", "Architects of the Holy Shrine", "Highlights of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS)", "Enlargement of the Holy Shrine after the Islamic Revolution", "Holy Shrine Decorations", "Chambers", "Restoration of the Tomb", “Stone-works of the Holy Shrine”, “Tomb of the Holy Shrine”, "Altar", "Shrine Mosques", “Courtyards”, “Holy Shrine Porticos”, "Golden Dome of the Holy Shrine", "Minarets", “Shrine Porches”, “Portals”, Sanctuaries” and “ Clocks of the Holy Shrine”.

"A Brief Biography of Imam Reza (AS)" is one of the themes of this work, which deals with topics such as birth and titles, Imam Reza's scientific and cultural assistance to his father, taking care of religious affairs while his father was in prison,   Imam Reza’s Islamic leadership, Imam Reza (AS) and Aaron, Imam Reza (AS) during caliphate of Amin, Imam Reza (AS) and Ma’mun, Imam Reza’s travel to Khorasan at the invitation of Ma’mun, etc.

Part of the book reads: “The illuminated mausoleum, where the body of Imam Reza (AS) is buried, lies beneath a golden and magnificent dome that forms the central core of the AQR monuments. In the early years after burial of Imam Reza’s blessed body, the holy shrine was a simple building and the shrine had only one simple entrance and brief decorations. The chambers on the two sides of the shrine, except the one on the front, were closed to the outside world.

The book also tells about the attacks by Ghuzz, Mongols, and Uzbeks as well as the Goharshad Mosque incident, and the bomb blast in the shrine.

There is a part in the book introducing scholars and celebrities buried in the premises of the shrine as well.
