Thirteen countries welcome cultural interaction with AQR libraries

The center has received more than 77,000 donated copies of manuscripts, documents, and printed works over the past year.

Hawzah News Agency (Mashhad, Iran) - During 2019, 13 European and Asian countries have welcomed proposals for cultural interaction with the Astan Quds Razavi’s Libraries, Museums and Documents Center.

The center has received more than 77,000 donated copies of manuscripts, documents, and printed works over the past year.

Also in 2019, AQR purchased a valuable collection belonging to the personal library of the late Sheikh Abbas Qomi (the owner of Mafatih al-Jinan, among the most important Shia prayer books). It is an exquisite collection of over 300 manuscripts, many of them authored by Qomi himself.

Signing memorandums of understanding with 11 scientific and research centers in Iran and reviewing memos with 13 countries, for cultural communication aimed at introducing and revitalizing the Shia Islamic heritage, are among other achievements of the AQR Libraries, Museums and Documents Center in 2019.

Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, France, Britain, Scotland, Japan, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, and Qatar are among the countries that have welcomed cultural cooperation with the center.

Access to more than 100 million AQR digital study resources in various Iranian cities’ libraries and distribution of 24,000 books among the country’s 50 cultural centers come next in the report of achievements.

Currently, AQR Central Library keeps some 57,000 manuscripts and 22,000 historical Quran volumes, which are of great value due to attribution to the Infallible Imams (AS) as well as their scientific and artistic aspects. With 4,600,000 volumes of printed books, it is one of the largest libraries in Iran.

AQR Libraries, Museums and Documents Center, as one of the cultural, scientific and research centers, owns 56 libraries nationwide.
