Statement released by Qom seminary scholar's community, condemning illegal imprisonment of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaki

The Qom seminary scholar's community calls on the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in particular the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, with all the diplomatic capacities of Iran and Islamic countries and the international community to address the situation of this benevolent Islamic scholar.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – Qom seminary scholar's community released a Statement   condemning illegal imprisonment of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaki:

In the name of God, the all compassionate the most merciful

Considering certain reports that Sheikh Ibrahim Zakaki's transfer to the prison- despite the deterioration of his physical condition- has taken place, while expressing grave concern about his health, we hold the responsibility for the consequences of the delay in the treatment and continuity of unlawful detention of Sheikh Zakzaki on the Nigerian government. Therefore, it is necessary for the Nigerian government to provide this religious leader with the medical care by ending the current situation and removing the illegitimate restrictions on him.

We also express our regret that a government which claims to respect freedom and observe the rights of citizens, to practice such injustice method against someone who is after nothing but the prosperity of his homeland and the nation of Nigeria.

The Qom seminary scholar's community calls on the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in particular the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, with all the diplomatic capacities of Iran and Islamic countries and the international community to address the situation of this benevolent Islamic scholar.

Nigerian authorities need to abandon their suspicions and limitations in a timely manner and cancel the restrictions, because Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaki and his brothers do not deserve the continuation of these illegal approaches that has occurred in the most violent form of security actions.

Mohammad Yazdi

Chief of the great council of Qom seminary scholars' community
