Hindu woman converts to Islam in Pakistan

Mehak Keswani, 22, was seen in footage reciting the Shahadah (Islamic proclamation of faith), announcing her new Muslim name, Mehak Fatimah, and saying that she converted to Islam of her own free will.

Hawzah News Agency (Ghotki - Pakistan) - A Hindu woman who went missing on Friday from the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi, has converted to Islam in the Ghotki province of Pakistan, according to the Express Tribune.

Mehak Keswani, 22, was seen in footage reciting the Shahadah (Islamic proclamation of faith), announcing her new Muslim name, Mehak Fatimah, and saying that she converted to Islam of her own free will.

Fatimah added that she had traveled to Dargah Bharchoondi Shareef in the Ghotki province, where Pakistani politician Mian Javed performed the formal conversion ceremony.

Mian Mithoo, a maternal uncle of Mian Javed, confirmed that she was not coerced or forced into becoming Muslim. Mehak visited his village with a local Muslim man named Muhammad Ashar, a fellow classmate, and asked to be converted to Islam.

Mithoo, who is famous for facilitating such conversions, said he welcomes anyone who visits his home, asking to become Muslim, and provides them with all necessities with the help of his family and followers, and even supports them financially and provides shelter if need be.
