A seminar to mark the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution was held in London, with scores of British politicians, diplomats, officials, Iranologists, and lovers of the Revolution participating in the event.

Hawzah News Agency (London, England) - A number of British political personalities, as well as diplomats, media people and Britons interested in Iran attended the seminar to mark the 40 anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of 1979, which was entitled 'Forty Years of Development' and took place at the residence of Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad on Thursday.

Baeidinejad addressed the meeting as the keynote speaker while a number of political activists also gave speeches.

The popular uprising of Iranians under the auspices and guidance of Imam Khomeini led to the fall of the US-backed monarchy of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in February 1979.

Following that, the same people who toppled the Pahlavi Regime in Iran voted for establishment of a democratic political system in April 1979, and step by step the Islamic Republic of Iran was formed by the will of masses of Iranians and leadership of Imam Khomeini.
