Leader urges necessity of replacing retirees with youth

Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran called for taking necessary measures to pace the implementation of the new law on prohibition of employing retirees in the governmental positions.

Hawzah News Agency (Tehran, Iran) - During a meeting with senior clerics and scholars in Tehran on Tuesday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei added that implementing the new law will help promote the management of crucial sectors in the government, and will also provide opportunities for the younger generation to serve their country with their creative ideas and fresh energy.

However, he pointed out that the law has to have some exceptions as "some retirees started working at an early age, for example, twenty years and retired after 30 years... So, not only can they still be useful, but also there may be no substitutes for them."

"The new regulation has to take them into consideration,” the Leader added.

The new law on employment was ratified in September by the Parliament. It bans retirees from re-employment in the public sector.

Following the new rulling, several senior officials, including deputy ministers, have so far been replaced with younger experts.
