Hawzah News Agency - (London - UK) - A man has been detained following the evacuation of an Islamic Centre in Maida Vale.

Police were called shortly before 8am on Friday (July 19) after receiving reports of a man with luggage acting suspiciously in Kilburn High Road.

Scotland Yard told MyLondon that officers evacuated the mosque and put road closures in place while the incident was dealt with.

Photos from the scene showed the extent of the police presence and the cordons put in place to keep the public away.

The incident response team assessed the luggage and thankfully it was deemed to not be suspicious.

A man, who in his 20s, was detained under the Mental Health Act.

Local businesses were advised to shut while the incident was ongoing, according to reports on social media.
