Hawzah News Agency - (Cardiff - Wales) - Two brothers have appeared at court over an alleged knife attack in the street outside a Cardiff mosque.

19-year-old Luke Thomas from Rumney and 18-year-old Liam Thomas from Gabalfa were arrested in June after an incident outside Dar-Ul-Isra community centre in the Cathays area of Cardiff. One person was taken to hospital.

Appearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Luke Thomas admitted unlawfully wounding Saif Sabri and possessing an offensive weapon but denied a charge of wounding Isam Mogul with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

His brother Liam denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Saif Sabri and assault by beating on Mohammed Sabri.

Recorder of Cardiff, Eleri Rees, said the attack was not racially aggravated.

''It's purely coincidental that it happened outside the mosque and there is nothing to suggest that this was racially aggravated.'' she said.

The pair will face trial in October.
