Imam Sadiq defended the religion and the Quran during the enemy’s cultural invasion: General custodian

The AQR custodian called the most important goal of such ceremonies and rituals raising the level of knowledge about the religious teachings

Hawzah News Agency (Mashhad - Iran) - Imam Sadiq’s (AS) defended the religion and the Quran during the enemy’s cultural invasion, says AQR General Custodian Hoj. Ahmad Marvi, marking the Imam’s martyrdom anniversary.

He made the statement at a mourning ceremony, attended by scholars, lecturers, clerics and seminary students at the Ayatollah Khoyi seminary school.

The AQR custodian called the most important goal of such ceremonies and rituals raising the level of knowledge about the religious teachings, saying, “The prerequisite for knowledge to the Infallible Imams (AS) is a pure heart.”

“If we are to touch the Quran, we must have an appearance purity, and if we want to reach the depth of the Quran, we need an inner purity,” he said.

He added that as the inner comprehension of the Quran requires the purification of the soul and the heart, access to the depth of the personality of the Infallible Imams (AS) also requires the purification of the soul and the cleansing of the heart from the self and evil temptations.

He pointed to cleansing of heart from the veil of sins in order to understand the truths of the world and also to understand the personality and existential angles of Imam Sadiq (AS), further asking God to make everuone capable of knowing them.

He referred to the role of Imam Sadiq in defending against them and pointed out that, on the one hand, various thought trends and, on the other hand, the activities of atheists and polytheists was widespread, and the governments of the Umayyad and Bani Abbas were not only close to Islam but even had hostility towards it.

“At the time of Imam Sadiq, there was a cultural invasion in the real sense of the word, which was not less dangerous for Islam than Mu’awiya and Yazid and Imam Sadiq protected the religion and the Quran in such a circumstance,” he noted.

Elsewhere in his speech, he stressed that if it was not for the struggles, patience and the vast knowledge of the Imam Sadiq and his educated disciples, the invasion of the atheists and polytheists had destroyed Islam in that period, however, he dressed in combat and entered the field of culture and scientific struggle with doubts in defense of Islam.
