Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) –Grand Jurist-consultants Ayatollah Safi Gulpaygani (Marja Taqlid) sent a message on the 1400th occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (as):

In the name of Allah, the Most-Compassionate the most- Merciful

The Blessed Month of Ramadhan of the year 1404 AH is a reminder of a tragic and spiritual event that occurred in the history of mankind.

It is true that nearly one thousand four hundred years have passed since the martyrdom of the first true believer in Islam, the ideal teacher of the Glorious Quran, the rightful successor and representative of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the embodiment of justice, helper of the oppressed and scourge of the oppressors, the lover, beloved and father of the orphans, the possessor of complete divine guardianship, the door of prophetic knowledge and owner of pure miracles and virtues, Imam Ali (as).

The Islamic world, rather mankind and the people of knowledge are for 14 centuries mourning the loss and tragedy that befell the esteemed Imam.

But what has befallen the lovers and followers of this Imam during these centuries!? What oppression, tyranny and injustice have they not faced!? Thousands of innocent and oppressed people have been martyred for the crime of being a Shia of Ali! Many have endured extreme torture; many have been exiled; so many parents have cried in anguish at the martyrdom of their sons and daughters, 'Some were slain, some were held prisoner, some were exiled to distant lands' (Dua Nudbah).

The Blessed Month of Ramadhan this year is a reminder of of all tragedies, tyrannies and injustices.

In order to proclaim the fulfilment of my duty to the divine station of Imamate and Guardianship, I request from all freedom seeking individuals, Muslims and especially the Shia and followers of the Ahlul Bayt (as) to in this Blessed Month of Ramadhan and especially during the Nights of Ordainment and the martyrdom days of that esteemed Imam, honor and mention him. To recount the virtues and merits of this light of Allah swt and oppressed Imam and by holding seminars and conferences to mention a part of his divine existence for all of humanity.

In addition, to increase the prowess and vigor of the Alawi mourning processions and to show your love and commitment to the Ahlul-Bayt (as) by partaking in them. To them also send you condolences to the Imam of the Time and pray that Allah swt hastens his reappearance so that he may establish a united divine government against the oppressors 'which they see far, but we see near.' (Dua Nudbah)
