London borough celebrates diversity in week-long events

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in Greater London is hosting week-long events to celebrate diversity, encourage multicutural and close communities.

Hawzah News Agency (London, England) - “Barking and Dagenham is a wonderfully diverse borough, and it is fantastic to know that people will be sharing their beliefs and values with each other during this month’s Inter Faith Week,” Councilor Saima Ashraf, deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for community leadership and engagement, said.

“It is important that people take time out to find out more about each other’s faiths so that we can truly be one borough and one community – so I hope that as many people as possible will attend the events taking place next week.”

The week will begin on November 11 and will include open days at St Margaret’s Church and Al Madina Mosque, stories workshops at Becontree Children’s Centre and a chance to hear from speakers of various faiths at Barking Town Hall.

The Inter Faith Week aims to highlight the good work done by local faith, interfaith and faith-based groups and organizations.

A number of open days will also be taking place throughout the week, for anyone who wishes to find out more about a particular faith.

St Margaret’s Church in Barking will be open from 13 to 15 November (10 am to 2.30pm), while Barking’s Al Madina Mosque will open for visitors on 15 November (2 pm to 4 pm).
