Call for Muslims to continue visiting Al-Aqsa Mosque

Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammad Ahmad Husein said continuous visits by Muslims from all over the world would indirectly imply great support for the Palestinian cause.

Hawzah News Agency (Occupied Territories) - Muslims around the world have been asked to continue visiting the Al-Aqsa Mosque here, despite the strict entry restrictions placed by the Israeli forces, as it is the only way the third holiest site in Islam can be preserved.

Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammad Ahmad Husein said continuous visits by Muslims from all over the world would indirectly imply great support for the Palestinian cause.

He said, right now, the Palestinians were being oppressed and threatened, and they were prohibited from organising even a small gathering to commemorate an inspirational leader in education.

“This is why Muslims from around the world need to come and visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque as their presence will revive and boost the spirit of the Palestinians to continue defending their rights,” the Grand Mufti told Bernama during the visit of Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail to the mosque here on Friday.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin and his delegation were met on arrival by the Al-Quds Islamic Affairs Supreme Committee chairman Dr Ekremah Said Sabry.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also joined the congregation to perform Friday prayers at the mosque before presenting 30 wheelchairs for the use of the disabled members of the congregation.

Meanwhile, Dr Ekremah, who is also the custodian of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, said the unjust and unfair Oslo Accords, which are a set of agreements between the regime of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization signed on the White House lawn in Washington in 1993, had caused further oppression of the Palestinians.

“By having the agreement, it was like America giving Israel the right to do anything they want against the Palestinians,” he said.

End.
