US applies double standards to terror attacks: Analyst

An analyst believes the United States is applying double standards to terror attacks, noting that’s why Washington has not labeled a recent attack in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz as a terrorist act.

Hawzah News Agency (Ahvaz, Iran) - “In fact there is no agreement when it comes to the Americans; they reject any agreement on labeling and defining terrorism because they want all those who are against their policies and those who are standing up against their hegemony all over the world to be labeled as terrorists. This applies to any country all over the world that is against the American policies and this applies also when it comes to defining an act that is a terrorist act or it is not a terrorist act,” Mohammad Obaid told Press TV in an interview on Monday.

“If the attack targets your allies, if you are an American, then it is terrorism but if it is in a country that stands up against your policies, even if those killed are civilians, even if the attack is terrorist with all criteria …, still the stubbornness and the arrogance of the US administration cannot be escaped,” he added.

Terrorists on Saturday opened fire at a crowd of people during a military parade in Ahvaz, killing 25 military personnel and civilians — including women and children — and wounding at least 68 others.

Masses of Iranian people and government officials on Monday participated in a funeral procession for the victims of the terrorist attack in Ahvaz.
