Suspected killer of imam 'not previously deported from Bahrain'

Police have denied reports that Suspected killer of butchering Bahraini imam in Muharraq had previously been deported from Bahrain.

Hawzah News Agency (Manama, Bahrain) - Police have denied reports that the Bangladeshi national accused of butchering Bahraini imam Shaikh Abduljalil Hmood at a mosque in Muharraq had previously been deported from Bahrain.

The 35-year-old suspect first entered Bahrain in 2009," said the criminal investigation and forensic evidence director-general.

In a statement late on Tuesday night, he said the suspect was under the sponsorship of the Sunni endowments directorate to work as a muezzin.

Dismissing as incorrect allegations that he was involved in other crimes, the official said the accused had not been involved in any previous crime since he entered Bahrain nine years ago.

End.
