Al-Azhar to hold International course for training Imams

The 117th edition of an international course for training preachers and imams will be held at Al-Azhar Islamic center in Egypt.

Hawzah News Agency (Cairo, Egypt) - The educational program will be organized by Al-Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy under the supervision of Al-Azhar scholars and teachers.

The main objective of the course is to promote the knowledge of preachers and imams of mosques and prepare them for facing extremist and terrorist ideologies, the organizers say.

Preachers from India, Senegal, Malaysia, Albania, Australia, Pakistan, China and Nigeria will take the course.

Al-Azhar experts in jurisprudence, Islamic principles, Arabic language, Hadith, interpretation of Quran and Islamic schools of thought will teach the course.

Mohyiddin Afifi, the secretary general of the academy, said that issues related to Fatwas and the youth in Islamic societies are among the themes of the two-month course.
