Palestinians perform Friday prayers in threatened Bedouin village

Hundreds of Palestinians performed Friday prayers in Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin village, east of occupied Jerusalem, in challenge to Israel’s demolition and displacement threats against its people.

Hawzah News Agency (Occupied Palestine) - During the Friday sermon, the grand mufti of Jerusalem Muhammad Ahmad Hussein stressed the importance of intensifying Palestinian presence in Khan al-Ahmar in face of Israeli increasing attacks and repressive measures.

He also called for supporting the steadfastness of Khan al-Ahmar’s people who “represent the front line of defence for Jerusalem.”

The grand Mufti further called on the Arab and Islamic nations to bear responsibility towards occupied Jerusalem.

He also urged the international community to stand firmly in support of the Palestinian people’s right to exist.

Following the prayers, the worshipers marched towards the main Jerusalem-Jericho road, which passes near the village, to express their rejection of the Israeli move. The protesters waved the flag of Palestine and chanted slogans condemning Israel’s plan to demolish the village.

Yesterday, Israeli forces attacked Palestinian and international activists who were on a vigil at Khan al-Ahmar to prevent its anticipated demolition and displacement of its 180 Palestinian residents, most of them children.

End.
