Fox News calls Donald Trump a ‘dictator

America’s flagship conservative network Fox News has stirred a controversy by referring to Republican President Donald Trump as a “dictator,” in what administration critics are describing as a rather Freudian slip.

Hawzah News Agency (New York, US) - The embarrassing gaffe occurred on Sunday, when a host on Fox&Friends, Trump’s favorite program on the network, was discussing the June 12 meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore with former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

“Regardless of what happens in that meeting between the two dictators, what we are seeing right now, this is history,” Abby Huntsman, the host, told Scaramucci as she asked him to comment on the landmark summit.

he slip-up went over Scaramucci’s head, who began by praising Trump for “breaking the usual bonds.”

Huntsman’s slip-up set the social media on fire as users jumped on the opportunity to crack jokes at the president, who on many occasions has invited Americans to watch Fox News instead of other “fake news” channels.

Huntsman, who is also daughter of the US ambassador to Russia, tried to contain the damage later on by apologizing on live TV and in a tweet.

“I do want to point out that earlier, as you know sometimes on live TV sometimes you don’t always say things perfectly. I called both President Trump and Kim Jong-un a dictator. I did not mean that, my mistake, so I apologize for that,” she said on air.

Both Kim and Trump arrived in Singapore earlier on Sunday.

The US president, who has a knack for going after TV hosts and journalists who criticize him, has yet to react to the apparent slip of tongue.

End.
