Hawzah News Agency (Mosul, Iraq) – According to al-Forat news, an Iraqi military official said the women were detained near Mosul.

He said two of them are Syrian and the third one is from Turkey.

The official added that they were fleeing Iraq to Syria when security forces arrested them.

The women were part of Daesh religious police when the terrorist group controlled Mosul, he went on to say.

On December 9, 2017, Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared the end of military operations against Daesh after the terrorist group was forced out of its last stronghold in the Arab country.

On July 10, Abadi had formally declared victory over Daesh extremists in Mosul, which served as the terrorists’ main urban stronghold in the conflict-ridden Arab country.

In the run-up to Mosul's liberation, Iraqi army soldiers and volunteer Hashd al-Sha’abi fighters had made sweeping gains against Daesh.

Daesh began a terror campaign in Iraq in 2014, overrunning vast swathes in lightning attacks.
