Egyptian Scholar urges promoting interfaith dialogue

Highlighting the Quranic view on interfaith dialogue, Sheikh Abdul Salam Muhammad added, "Such dialogues among religions do not weaken Islamic faith, rather they promote our religion and strengthen our belief since Quranic verses invite Muslims to engage in dialogues."

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – Speaking at the scientific meeting in the University of Islamic Denominations in Qom to discuss the interfaith studies at Egypt's Al-Azhar University on Tuesday, April 17, Muslim scholar Sheikh Abdul Salam Muhammad elaborated on the present status of interreligious dialogues in Al-Azhar University.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Egyptian scholar pointed out the great extent of Al-Azhar's scientific fields saying, "Al-Azhar University offers courses to students in every old and modern major including humanities and engineering in 27 provinces in Egypt.  

 

Highlighting the Quranic view on interfaith dialogue, Sheikh Abdul Salam Muhammad added, "Such dialogues among religions do not weaken Islamic faith, rather they promote our religion and strengthen our belief since Quranic verses invite Muslims to engage in dialogues."

 

The Egyptian professor further elaborated on the high position of Jafari Jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University saying, "The history of comparative studies among Islamic sects goes back to a long time ago at Al-Azhar and this is one the main reasons the activities of Egypt's Organization of Proximity among Religions are greatly promoting in recent years."
