Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - In a message to the 3rd international conference of "Islamic jurisprudence, law and social realities" that officially kicked off today evening in the Iranian city of Qom, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi pointed out some important matters regarding the conference and its subject.

 

The revered source of emulation stressed on the importance of the conference topic and stated, "It is significant that, on the one hand, this conference provides the opportunity to juridically examine the various social problems and issues that surround this subject, and on the other hand, it opens up an important chapter in the Islamic studies for scholars and scientists to review and detect functioning of Islamic jurisprudence (and its derived laws) in relation to social realities, and provide ways of preventing social harm."

 

 

In another part of his message, Ayatollah Makarem remarked, "Today, the social and global conditions are such that many social crimes cross the national and geographical borders and attack all societies in an organized way."

 

His Eminence added, "In response to this phenomenon, which is a serious threat to all parts of the Islamic Ummah, Islamic scholars need to focus on the fight against social crimes, and converge and cooperate seriously towards this common goal."

 

 

The senior Shia cleric concluded with giving thanks to the attending thinkers and scholars and expressed hope that this conference will be a notable step in reducing social harm.
