Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - Speaking during a mourning ceremony marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra at the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma'sumah in Qom, Ayatollah Sayyed Mahdi Mirbaqeri analyzed the phrase:
“Peace be upon you, Oh carefully examined (lady)! God Who created you had tried you before He created you (for this worldly life)!"
The head of the Islamic Sciences Academy in Qom said that this phrase is at the beginning of the "Supplication of Fatimah al-Zahra" and added, "God Almighty has imposed the tradition of trials in order to save mankind."
He emphasized that the greatest trials in human history were suffered by Lady Fatimah and added, "The greatest human trials need special receptacles for acceptance and understanding and God Almighty has given this immense capacity to the Prophet Muhammad and Lady Fatimah. On this basis, when the Prophet Abraham came to the altar in the most severe trial, God Almighty taught him the truth of this great tragedy at the last moment of this trial."
Ayatollah Mirbaqeri added that after God prevented the Prophet Abraham from sacrificing his son, Ishmael, at the last moment, and was called to sacrifice sheep sent from paradise for suffering the pain of this great divine trial.
The representative of the people of Alborz province in the Assembly of Experts said the Holy Quran teaches the identity of great trial of the Prophet Abraham (pbuh) by God Almighty and said, "God Almighty taught the Prophet Abraham to teach the truth of this great trial and chose him for the position of imamate as the rewards of the trials he suffered."
His Eminence described the tragedy of Ashura as a great trial for Lady Fatimah, stating, "This great trial was accepted by Lady Fatimah in order that the truth of the absence of the Imam is prepared for the salvation."
Ayatollah Mirbaqeri added, "During the Event of Saqifah Bani Sa'idah, there were attempts to deprive the Islamic ummah from its connection to the prophetic realm and they succeeded to some extent. This was while Lady Fatimah, by accepting the greatest trial to save the ummah from deviation, created this historical revolution. For this reason, this apprehension and intercession to connect the ummah to the prophetic realm was the most basic wisdom of this great trial."
The speaker at the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma'sumah emphasized that tears for Imam al-Husayn are for the heart of the pure believer and noted, "Verifying wilayah (guardianship) is the only way to achieve and understand intercession. Accordingly, it must be noted that the authentication of wilayah is very difficult and grueling because the believer must be cleaned of all contamination on this path."
Ayatollah Mirbaqeri stressed, "During the uprising of Ashura, the supporters of Imam al-Husayn acknowledged him and remained on the battlefield until their last drop of blood was shed on the right path. Accordingly, it must be noted that joining the path of wilayah is the only way to acknowledge the existence of God’s deputy on earth."
