Libyan Mufti Condemns Saudi Repression of Muslim Scholars

Libya's grand mufti deplored Saudi Arabia's oppression of Muslim scholars. A number of Libyan citizens who are among the country's revolutionary leaders have been arrested by Saudi Arabia.

Hawzah News Agency (Tripoli, Libya)- In rare comments in an article published recently, Sadiq al-Ghariani described the Riyadh rulers and their supporters as tyrants.

He said the Saudi regime jails scholars and Muslim Ulama and even detains them in other countries.

A number of Libyan citizens who are among the country's revolutionary leaders have been arrested by Saudi Arabia and there is no word about their fate since the holy month of Ramadan (June), al-Ghariani said.

The Qatar-based International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has also recently called on Riyadh to avoid involving scholars in political disputes.
