 Online propagation of Islam, missionaries’ duty

Ayatollah Musavi Esfahani stated, “Cyberspace should be an opportunity for Islamic propagation, especially promotion of Salah, as Salah is the pillar of Islam.”

Hawzah News Agency (Hamedan, Iran) - In an interview with Hawzah News’ correspondent in Hamedan Ayatollah Sayyed Mustafa Musavi Esfahani head of Hamedan Islamic Seminary referred to the activities of religious missionaries in the cyberspace and said, “We need to carry out our duty to serve and propagate Islam in accordance with the society’s needs of the day.”

The Shia cleric asserted, “In the past, there was no radio, television, cyberspace or any other great tools of communication that exists today, so missionaries then had to propagate Islam in a face-to-face way, but today, with these new tools, the missionaries’ duty has changed accordingly.”

He stressed on the importance of missionaries’ presence in the cyberspace and stated, “The cyberspace should be an opportunity for Islamic propagation, especially promotion of Salah, as Salah is the pillar of religion.”
