Egypt's Muslim leader

"Al-Azhar has always opposed destruction of churches and Islamic holy sites; Today, we're holding the 12th conference on al-Quds, although some skeptics question the benefits of this conference for Occupied Palestine, at least it sends the Zionist Regime a warning and helps Muslim countries to unite against the Zionists' hegemony." said Grand Imam of al-Azhar.

Hawzah News Agency (Cairo, Egypt) – Speaking at al-Azhar Conference on al-Quds which is being held in Cairo, Ahmad al-Tayeb remarked, "Al-Aqsa mosque is the place where Prophet Muhammad's (as) ascended to heaven; we have gathered here today to voice our support for Palestine and condemn the injustice and oppression against Palestinian citizens. Since 1948, al-Azhar has strongly opposed the occupation of Palestinian territories especially al-Aqsa mosque as well as other Islamic holy places."

"Al-Azhar has held several conferences in this regard to show support for the issue of Palestine." the Egyptian scholar added.

He added, "Al-Azhar has always opposed destruction of churches and Islamic holy sites; today, we're holding the 12th conference on al-Quds, although some skeptics question the benefits of this conference for Occupied Palestine and say that it bears no result, but at least this conference sends the Zionist Regime a warning and helps Muslim countries to unite against the Zionists' hegemony."

The former president of Al-Azhar University in Egypt further noted, "The path of occupation ends in the annihilation of occupiers sooner or later. Everyone knows what fate is awaiting an oppressor regime such as Israel; you can look back to history when the Western countries attacked Muslim nations during the crusades and see those consequences."

It must be noted that al-Quds conference, which is attended by delegations from as many as 86 countries, kicked off today and will continue for 2 days.
