Hawzah News Agency (cairo, Egypt) - Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayyeb, grand Egyptian mufti, has released a statement rejecting Zionist claims on Al-Aqsa Mosque saying that efforts to release the al-Haram Mosque is meant to free the holy mosque, Dome of the Rock and all surrounding courtyards.
 
He said,” Confrontation with the Zionists is due to their efforts to conquer the whole al-Aqsa Mosque” adding,” The plan to call merely the Dome of Rock as al-Aqsa Mosque is a Zionist intrigue.”
 
Egyptian cleric released the statement in advance to the international conference to be held by al-Azhar on January 17-18, 2018.
 
Last Tuesday Knesset passed the bill which demands the two thirds support is needed for relinquishing control over any part of the holy city to a foreign entity.
 
The bill has followed to a controversial decision by President Donald Trump’s decision to relocate US embassy in Jerusalem al-Quds in a move to recognize the holy city as Israeli capital.
