The 49th Imam of Nizari Ismailis addressed a crowd of 150 thousand Shia Ismailis in Pakistan. He highlighted the importance of education and scientific progress as main keys to a society’s success.

Hawzah News Agency (Islamabad, Pakistan) – Karim al-Hussaini, also known as Sir Karim Agha Khan, the 49th Imam of Nizari Isma’ilism which is a denomination of Shia Islam addressed a crowd of 150,000 of his followers during his recent trip to Biglit city in the province of Baltistan in Pakistan.

 

This meeting was held in the northern province of Baltistan in Pakistan during which Agha Khan IV received a huge welcome by large number of Nizari Ismailis.

 

 

During his speech, Sir Agha Khan IV invited his followers to live peacefully alongside the adherents of other religions; he also urged promoting brotherly bonds among different religions.

 

Elsewhere in his remarks, Karim al-Hussaini highlighted the importance of education and scientific progress as main keys to a society’s success.

 

 

 It’s noteworthy that Nizari Ismailis are a denomination within Shia Islam consisting of an estimated 25 million adherents who mostly live in countries such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan as well as in Pamir China; there is also an Ismaili minority in Northern Province of Baltistan in Pakistan.

 

The Nizari Ismailis are the largest branch of the Ismaili Shia Muslims, the second-largest branch of Shia Islam after the Twelver Shias.
