Hawzah News Agency (Athens, Greece) – Grand Mufti of Greece Hafiz Jamali paid a visit to Iranian cultural center in Greek capital Athens on Saturday during which he met with Mr. Ali Muhammad Helmi, Iran’s cultural attaché in the European country.

During the meeting, both sides discussed possible ways to expand cultural and religious ties between two countries.

In the beginning of the meeting, Iran’s cultural attaché highlighted the importance of unity within Islamic community and condemned the policies of some Islamic countries for supporting takfiri groups and tarnishing the image of Islam: "Islam is the religion of peace and brotherhood; but unfortunately some young and inexperienced politicians in some Muslim countries are pursuing a path that benefits the enemies of Islam and cause sectarianism within Muslim community."

Pointing out that the Islamic Unity Conference is going to be held in near future in Iran, Mr. Helmi welcomed Hafiz Jamali to attend the conference asserting, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported Islamic unity and holding such international event on Islamic unity is another proof of such efforts."

The Greek mufti Hafiz Jamali also asserted, "The Islamic Republic of Iran belongs to the whole Islamic world; this country succeeded to realize a great and unique Islamic revolution under the leadership of late Imam Khomeini (ra). Iran has always sought the benefit of whole Islamic community and promotes unity among Muslim countries."
