Int’l Conference on Seminary’s Role in Present Era held in Beirut

The first international conference on the role of Islamic seminary in present era was held in Beirut and it was organized by al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Lebanon.

Hawzah News Agency (Beirut, Lebanon) – This event was organized by the cooperation of al-Mustafa International University and some seminary schools in Lebanon.

 

Head of al-Mustafa University Ayatollah Alireza Arafi was among the keynote speakers of the event on Thursday.

 

At the beginning of the conference, Hujjat al-Islam Alireza Biniaz, a Shia cleric, welcomed the distinguished guests and prominent figures who attended the event.

 

Head of al-Mustafa International University Ayatollah Alireza Arafi then delivered a speech on the importance of organizing this international conference adding, “The Islamic seminaries need such public conferences in order to expand and strengthen their role in developments of present era.”

 

The conference had two sessions including one called ‘Educational methods in Islamic Seminary’ and ‘Strategies for developing seminary’s role’.

 

During the first session supervised by Sayyed Muhammad Mortadha, several seminary scholars including Hujjat al-Islams Ali Hejazi, Sheikh Hassan Alsoveydan, Sheikh Faadi Nasser, Sayyed Ali al-Mousavi gave speeches on different topics such as educational methods at Islamic seminary, seminary textbooks, scientific specialty as well as research-based education.

 

In the second part of the conference Sayyed Najib Khalaf served as the chairman. Hujjat al-Islams Sheikh Ebrahim Badavi, Sheikh Amin Saad, Sheikh Sadegh al-Nabulsi and Sheikh Hassan al-Hadi were the main speakers and discussed issues including present-day Islamic seminary, the role of seminaries in conducting social activities, seminary and the realities of social life as well as unity and regional diversity.

 

In the end, Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Muhammad Zarghat, the scientific secretary of the conference, announced the final resolution emphasizing the necessity to hold this gathering again in the coming year.
