Indonesian Woman Oldest Hajj Pilgrim

Maryam Marjani from Indonesia is the oldest pilgrim traveling to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj this year.

Hawzah News Agency - Maryam, who is 104 years old, arrived in Jeddah on Saturday and was welcomed by Indonesian Consul General and a number of Saudi officials.

 

She said it was a dream come true to be able to perform Hajj for the first time in her life.

 

Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.

 

Some two million pilgrims are expected to take part in Hajj this year.

 

Like previous years, Indonesia has the highest number of pilgrims in the 2017 Hajj.
