The Iranian Cultural Center in Zimbabwe organized an educational course on “Islam and Christianity” in Harare, the capital city of the African country.

Hawzah News Agency (Harare, Zimbabwe)- According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), more than 50 Muslim and Christian university students participated at the educational program, which was held in cooperation with academic figures and Christian priests.

The closing ceremony of the course was attended by the country’s deputy Minister of Education, Iranian cultural attaché in Zimbabwe, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mahdawi, an Iranian expert from ICRO’s Dissemination Center, and Hujjat al-Islam Mokhtarian, an Iranian expert with the International Institute of Islamic Studies in the holy city of Qom.

Speaking in the program, the deputy minister said that the number of Muslims in Zimbabwe is increasing and that there is need for such courses in all parts of the country, not only Harare, to prevent formation of extremist groups.

A copy of the book titled "Religious Dialogues in Zimbabwe” published by the Iranian Cultural Center was gifted to the deputy at the end of the ceremony and the students were granted certificates of attendance.
