Leader Offers Condolences on Cleric’s Demise

Leader of the Islamic Revolution offered his condolences over the demise of senior cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Asghar Morvarid.

Hawzah News Agency - In a message released on Tuesday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Hojat-ol-Islam Morvarid was a veteran combatant of the country’s Islamic movement and a sincere companion of Imam Khomeini (RA) during the years of struggle against the Pahlavi regime.

Ayatollah Khamenei expressed condolences to the cleric’s bereaved family and wished God’s mercy and forgiveness for him.

Born in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad in 1924, Hojat-ol-Islam Morvarid studied religious sciences in the city and later in Tehran and Qom.

He joined Imam Khomeini’s (ra) movement against the despotic Pahlavi regime and was arrested by the regime’s forces several times.

He died on Saturday at the age of 93.
