Indonesia hosts Conference on 'Social Perspectives of Shafi'i Imam'

The international conference called 'Contemporary Social Perspectives of Shafi'i Imam' was held in Indonesia's capital on Monday.

Hawzah News Agency (Jakarta, Indonesia) – The conference was organized by the efforts of Iran's university of Islamic Sects, the great Islamic Center in the West of Iran as well as Indonesia's Raden Fatah Islamic University.

 

The conference was attended by several university professors, prominent religious figures as well as university students.

 

The main speakers of the event were Professor Nasr al Din Omar, Indonesia's former vice minister of religion, Imam Akbar, Prayer Imam of Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta which is the biggest mosque in Southeast Asia, Professor Muhammad Shirazi, Dean of Indonesia's Raden Fatah University, Ayatollah Husseini Shahroudi, member of Iran's Assembly of Experts as well as Hujjat al-Islam Mokhtari, Dean of Iran's University of Islamic Sects.

 

Dr Mokhtari, dean of university of Islamic sects presented his paper on 'The role of Shafi'i Imam in fighting religious extremism and Takfirism' in English.
