Senior cleric: The president-elect must obey to the law

Ayatollah Tabatabaeinejad referred to Friday’s elections and said, “The Iranian people created an epic which is why we saw people standing in long lines for many hours and vote with love for the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Hawzah News Agency - Ayatollah Sayyed Yousef Tabatabaeinejad referred to the Iranian people’s “heroic” participation in Friday’s presidential and city and village council elections and said, “Despite the widespread

propaganda by the enemies of Islam and of the Islamic Revolution, the people demonstrated their unprecedented presence at the ballot boxes," Taqrib News Agency (TNA) quoted Rasa as saying.

Obtaining 57% of the total ballots, Hasan Rouhani won Iran’s 12th presidential election, receiving a popular mandate for another four years in presidential office.

The representative of the people of Esfahan in the Assembly of Experts said, “Just as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] said ‘the enemies’ propaganda has no effect on our people,’

the people have stood up for the Islamic system of government and the country and have faith in the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Ayatollah Tabatabaeinejad added that not only in this election, but rather throughout the different arenas, the Iranian people created an epic which is why we saw people standing in long lines for many hours and

vote with love for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Friday prayer leader of Esfahan said, “The Iranian people are the adherents of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the sources of emulation and in addition to this, they know that their religious

duty is to participate in the elections. Certainly all believers have participated in this election.”

The representative of the Supreme Leader in Esfahan province stressed that the president-elect should adhere to the law and the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and put his promises into action.

“According to the law, the person who achieves the majority of votes in the election is the legitimate president of the country and all the people and officials should give him their support and cooperate with him,”

he said.

In conclusion, Ayatollah Tabatabaeinejad said the president’s role is to serve the people and is chosen as the servant of the nation and added, “For this reason, he must apply all of his efforts without any personal

desires and avoid any form of factionalism in the way of progress, science and development of the country.”
