Head of Denmark's Islamic center announced launching a union for European Muslim and non-Muslim scholars to combat the issue of religious extremism and takfirism in near future.

Hawzah News Agency (Copenhagen, Denmark) – A conference is going to be held in Imam Ali (as) Islamic center in Denmark on May 22-23 with the cooperation of European Union of Muslim Scholars and Shia Theologians in order to discuss the issues of religious extremism and takfirism.

Hujjat al-Islam Muhammad Mahdi Khademi, head of Denmark's Islamic Center, had an interview with Hawzah News in which he elaborated on the agenda of the upcoming conference.

Hawzah: What is the aim of holding the conference called 'Threats of takfirism and extremism for human peace and coexistence' in Danish capital?

Hujjat al-Islam Khademi: As a matter of fact, our main job as Muslim scholars is to introduce the genuine Islam to the world and promote its valuable teachings; it is the Islam which has nothing to do with extremism and radicalism. Unfortunately, Islam's adversaries created radical groups to stop the increasing growth of Islam in Europe and America. They created extremist groups such as ISIS to give Islam a bad name worldwide. We, as missionaries of Islam, are required to show the world the divine face of Islam, one which is full of kindness and has nothing to do with extremism and violence.

Radicalism is considered as a threat to mankind's peaceful coexistence; it is not only limited to Islam. It's possible that followers of other religions such as Christianity and Judaism ignore the divine truth as well and fall into the risk of extremism.

Our purpose is to promote the doctrine of moderate Islam, spread the culture of peaceful coexistence among mankind and to discuss the takfiri thoughts and find out their origins.

Hawzah: Who are the participants of the conference?

Khademi: Christian, Jewish and Muslim European scholars from different countries are going to take part in the event.
