 Iraqi commander: Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's role in Mosul ended

The ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is not in central Mosul where the military operations are taking place, and he has no role over the fight in Mosul, said Nineveh operations commander. According to other information, Baghdadi is hiding in Baaj area in west of Mosul near the Syrian border

Hawzah News Agency (Nineveh, Iraq) - Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rasheed Yarallah stated on Sunday that the ISIS leader al-Baghdadi is no longer inside the city of Mosul where the fight is continuing against the terrorist group. 

Yarallah said in a press statement "the information we have shows that al-Baghdadi does not exist in the areas we are fighting." 

"Our intelligence indicates that he [Baghdadi] is in al-Jazeera area near the Syrian border, especially in the areas that have not yet been liberated, and there is information that says he was wounded in an air raid and has been transferred to al-Raqqa," he said. 



According to other information, Baghdadi is hiding in Baaj area in west of Mosul near the Syrian border, the commander said. 

He stressed that Baghdadi is no longer important; he lost control of the entire territory, and those who fight with him do so without his leadership, adding that he is playing no role in the areas we are fighting in Mosul, and his role ended in this region.
