Chapter ۴۸: for God, t is Never Too Late

As Qur’an says: “Perhaps you may hate something while it is good for you, and perhaps you may love something while it is bad for you,” so always remember to trust God. Yes, Almighty God can do .everything.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - The Qur’an is the principle source of every Muslim’s faith and practice, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures and provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and equitable economic principles. For the coming weeks we are presenting some short articles on ethical issues that have been written based on the verses of Qur’an.

Have you ever thought, “It is too late for me?” That is what two sisters in the scripture thought, Mary and Martha. Their brother, Lazarus, was extremely sick. They sent word to their good friend, Jesus, to come to their city and pray for him. A day went by and Jesus did not show up. They asked the messengers, “Did you tell Jesus it was us?” “Yes, we told Him.” “Did you explain how sick Lazarus was?” “We explained it to Him.” They could not understand why Jesus would not come immediately. Lazarus ended up dying. Four days later, Jesus showed up. Mary said, “Jesus, if You had been here sooner, my brother would still be alive.”

Have you ever felt like Jesus showed up too late? “If He just got there a little sooner, maybe things would have worked out.” The sisters felt this way, but Jesus spoke to Lazarus, and he came back to life. The sisters wanted Jesus to come and heal their brother, but Jesus was not thinking about a healing, He was thinking about a resurrection. A healing would have been good, but Jesus had something better in mind. Always remember, God almighty has another option. No matter how bad your circumstances look, it is never too late with Him!

God says in the Qur’an: “Perhaps you may hate something while it is good for you, and perhaps you may love something while it is bad for you; God knows while you do not know”. (Qur’an; 2:216) So trust in God and be patient. Be full of hope. Do not despair of God's mercy.  Do not forget this one thing, dear friends: “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” Yes, Almighty God can do everything.
