Racism In America business under fire for offensive signs

The US Muslim civil rights advocacy group has demanded a New Mexico convenience store remove a sign that reads “Obama & other Muslims Not welcome here.” It added: 'We urge the store’s owner to remove the sign in the interest of common decency."

Hawzah News Agency (Mayhill, USA) - A business in New Mexico is under fire for reportedly posting controversial messages around its storefront.

A convenience store in the town of Mayhill has a notice posted on its door reportedly stating, "Obama & other Muslims Not welcome here.”
Last year, an image stating "Kill Obama" was reportedly posted in one of the store’s windows.

A former employee told a local affiliate that similar signs have been posted for a long time, and are sold to customers who are interested in them, including “Obama toilet paper.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, urged the business to remove the signs.

“While everyone has the First Amendment right to free speech – even offensive speech – we urge the store’s owner to remove the sign in the interest of common decency and of our nation’s unity at a time of increasing divisions,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

Hate crimes have been widely reported in cities across the west nation since Republican Donald Trump won the presidential election in November against Hillary Clinton. There were more than 1,000 bias-related incidents from Nov. 8 through Dec. 12, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported.
