Chairman of the Council of Religious Minorities in Guangzhou

A delegation of Chinese scholars paid a visit to a religious research center in Qom, Iran and discussed mutual cooperation with the members of the institute’s scientific board.

Hawzah News Agency- During the visit, Mouji Shi, head of the Chinese delegation, stated, “Historically, the two nations of Iran and China have had strong and strategic relations and we’re very happy to be here in Iran.

 

He added, “Earlier this year, the Chinese president paid a formal visit to Iran during which he signed a memorandum of cooperation with his Iranian counterpart. One of the agreed provisions of that memorandum was to develop cultural exchanges between two countries and that’s why we are here in Iran.

 

 Highlighting that Iran has always been regarded as a cultural role model for the China, he added, “Our main goal of this visit is to develop cultural ties and help approximate our two cultural viewpoints,”

 

Later on, Abdullah Imam, a Chinese religious scholar, also spoke on the history of Islam in China saying, “Islam reached china in 600 AD and right after the first mosque was built in the country. There are approximately 200 thousand Muslims currently residing in Guangzhou, China and they are living in such a peaceful coexistence as if they are brothers or sisters. The unity among Muslim community in China is truly amazing.

 

“During our visit we came to notice that Iran is the right place to further our cause which is introducing the whole world to the genuine Islam and in order to do so we need to get help from Iran,”

 

In the end of the meeting, Hujjat al-Islam Golzadeh, a Shia cleric and official of the institute, asserted, “I really hope this visit, with respect to the rich history of both nations, helps us realize our long-term cultural visions,”
