In Iran, there are different religious sects and minorities which live alongside each other in a peaceful coexistence, they do not have any discord among them; furthermore, Iran has long been supporting peace and friendship among religious sects and undoubtedly we will shake hands with anyone who supports peace,” said Grand Ayatollah Makarem.

Hawzah News Agency- In a meeting with the chairman of Cyprus’ Global Peace Village which was held at Qom’s Imam al-Sajjad seminary school, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated that peace is currently the most crucial issue in the world and added, “If the world is filled with peace and friendship then there would be no wars or bloodshed and therefore all the finances that are currently being spent to create warfare and weapons would be put on developing urban facilities and raising living standards,”

The senior Shia cleric further added, “Every rational person would support peace, this is not exclusive to Muslims only, although Islam has strongly recommended spreading peace in the world, but those who seek selfish benefits in initiating wars accuse Iran for being anti-peace,”

“As a matter of fact, Islam has vigorously recommended that humans must help anyone who is in need of help in any part of the world.”

“We strongly oppose Takfiris; since they are pro-war and we are a peace loving nation. There have been two conferences held in Iran to support peace and in those conferences we have repeatedly stated that Islam is a religion of peace and does not support bloodshed or violence at all,” Grand Ayatollah Makarem concluded.
