Hawzah News Agency-The Department of Islamic Studies of Southeast University (SEU) in Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh. organized a seminar on ‘The Teachings & Significance of Ashura’. The program was held on 15 October, 2016 at the Seminar Hall of SEU.

Prof. Dr. A.F.M. Mafizul Islam, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the seminar while Registrar of SEU Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, SPP, psc (Retd) delivered the welcome address.

Hujjatul Islam Dr. Javad Mazloumi, Eminent Scholar of the Islamic Republic of Iran was the Keynote Speaker of the seminar. He enlighted about Teachings & Significance of Ashura. Mr. Mazloumi discussed the lessons of Ashura and explained how lessons of Ashura helps to reform society, increase knowledge and ensure equality of human being. He also highlighted how Ashura helps us to sacrifice, forgive and respect each others.

Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, Professor Emeritus, Southeast University and Prof.  Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, the Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor of SEU, Dr. Mohammad Faruque, Chairman of Islamic Studies department were present in the seminar as discussants.

Prof. Dr. A.F.M. Mafizul Islam encouraged faculities and students to do research on Ashura. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim, Dean of School of Arts & Social Sciences delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Among others, guests from Embassy of Iran, Chief Coordinator of BOT, SEU Trust Wing Commander AHM Mostafa Morshed (Retd), Dean of School of Science & Engineering Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Chairmen of different departments, faculties, students and staffs were present at the seminar.
