Hujjat al-Islam Saeedi Najafi served as the deputy of Ayatollah Assefi in the office of Ayatollah Khamenei in Iraq. In an interview on Ayatollah Assefi's life he said, "This devoted scholar was truly a man of action rather than an eloquent speaker. He led a simple life and was an unpretentious man. His simplicity in life was well-recognized by all people,"
He went on to say, Ayatollah Assefi's diverse and utile works are here to prove his scientific authority in different fields. He would investigate on what's needed the most in Islamic seminaries, present society, educated community and young generation and then he would go on to write for them to answer their needs,"
Pointing at Ayatollah Assefi's high standing among Marja's (sources of emulation) in Qom and Najaf, the representative of Al-Mustafa University in Pakistan added," Considering his high academic standing, Ayatollah Assefi had long been regarded as one of the most accomplished seminary scholars. He always had great relationship with the other sources of emulation in the city of Najaf including grand ayatollahs Sistani, Hakim, Fayyaz and Bashir Najafi. Due to his recognized position among Marja's in Najaf and his popularity among different Iraqi political wings and communities, the leader of Islamic revolution appointed him as his representative in Iraq,"
