Hawzah News Agency (Birmingham - UK) - The master plan for a major expansion to worshipping facilities was approved in 2016.  

The planning statement said: "The provision of the temporary building now proposed is important to maintain worship and meetings space during the first phases of the rebuilding process.

"The temporary building will present a clean and simple form that will not be inappropriate to the surrounding area.

"KSIMC intend to order the temporary building in time for use from early Autumn 2019.

The current facilities can accommodate up to 720 people, however the scheme will make the site better suited to some of the larger events such as Muharram (first month of the Islamic calendar) which can attract as many as 1,800 worshippers over four days requiring temporary marquee.

KSIMC say the temporary mosque building could be removed by late 2021 when it is hoped the new facilities will be ready.
