Iranian Muslims and their brethren across the world on Wednesday celebrated the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Mab'ath - the anniversary of the appointment of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to prophethood.

Hawzah News Agency - The Muslims celebrate the occasion every year by holding various ceremonies and rituals, on the 27th Rajab in the lunar calendar (April 3), the day of Prophet Mohammad’s appointment as the last and greatest prophet of the God Almighty.

The Iranian people from all walks of life went to mosques on Wednesday to participate in celebrations marking Eid al-Mab'ath, which is one of the most important religious holidays in the country.

Mohammad (PBUH) often retreated to the Hira cave outside the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to pray to God, to reflect on the true meaning of life and to ponder over life and death.

The angel Gabriel came to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the Hira cave bringing him the message of God Almighty, telling him he was appointed as the last prophet to guide mankind out of ignorance.
