The hardliner American Senator: It will take more than sanctions, al-Nujaba has gained much more power

Pointing to the inefficiency of the sanctions in reducing the power of the Resistance groups such as al-Nujaba, Ted Poe asked the US government to exert more pressure on such groups.

Hawzah News Agency (Tehran, Iran) - According to the report of al-Nujaba’s Centre for Relation and Media Affairs in Iran, Ted Poe who introduced the bill sanctioning al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance to the US congress, through an article published by the “Times of Israel” called for the exertion of more pressure on the Resistance groups.

The hardliner senator, Ted Poe in the said article claimed that ''Reversing Iran's expansionism will take more than sanctions" and then wrote, "After Obama gave away the farm, Iran's emboldened proxies, such as al-Nujaba, now constitute a powder keg that could erupt into regional war and they are a serious threat for the US in the Middle East".

He then criticized the US Department of State and wrote, "So far, however, the State Department has done the opposite by resisting Congressional efforts to designate Iran’s most lethal Iraqi proxies".

The Republican Senator also pointed out, “al-Nujaba, as the proxies of Iran, have shut the American and its allies’ forces many times in Iraq, as recently in Basra. Such actions threaten an American diplomatic post and the US will retreat, ceding more space for Iran and their proxies”.

Expressing his deep dissatisfaction over the achievements and victories attained by the Islamic Resistance Movements like al-Nujaba, Ted Poe added, "Across the Middle East today, armed thugs backed by Iran are entrenching themselves in local communities, undermining democratic aspirations, and stockpiling weapons in preparation for war against America's allies. Sadly, it's nothing new".

Finally, he again stressed that "It will take more than sanctions" and then concluded, "only when we tackle the said local challenges can we dislodge Iran. To do so requires us to make hard choices and strategies with potentially more costs”.
